History & Supporting Organizations | Chandler Center for the Arts

The Chandler Center for the Arts is the product of a collaborative effort between the City of Chandler and the Chandler Unified School District realized in 1988. Before this time, the City of Chandler was looking to boost its economy by enticing high-tech companies to the city through high-quality living, arts and entertainment choices, and exceptional schools.

At the same time, the Chandler Unified School District needed a high-school auditorium. Local Phoenix architect Wendell Rossman had already been hired by the school district to design the auditorium. The two entities joined forces and worked together to create a “shared-use” facility that served Chandler’s community’s needs. Today, the collaboration of three supporting organizations comprises the lifeblood of the Chandler Center for the Arts.

Chandler Cultural Foundation is a non-profit established by the City of Chandler, whose purpose is to provide fiduciary control over the CCA facility. To also oversee all programming and operations of the Arts Center by way of a City of Chandler appointed Board of Directors.

The City of Chandler, a dynamic, diverse-living destination located in Phoenix’s east valley, is the fourth largest city in Arizona and was instrumental in creating the Chandler Center for the Arts.

Chandler Unified School District sets academic achievements as a top priority. The school district was a co-partner in forming the Chandler Center of the Arts in the late 80s. Today, the facility is utilized by the Chandler Unified School District for school art curriculum, assemblies, student rehearsals, and performances Monday through Thursday.
