Join the Contribution Network and get paid for writing articles and taking photos. We’re looking for creative and willing individuals to help shine a light on local communities.
Select from our list of topics or submit an original article. Click the button below to get started.
When you submit an article you will be asked to enter your PayPal email address. If you don’t have an account, there is a link on the submission form to easily create a new PayPal account.
PayPal is the only form of payment we offer at this time.
When you submit an article you will be asked if you own a local business. If you answer yes, and your article is accepted, you are given a coupon code to use in the Advertising Center.
The coupon is good for a 1-month general ad in the city of your choice. (Currently, ads are only available in active cities at worldofarizona.com)
During the checkout process, you will be required to provide the details needed to complete the order. For example, the ad dimensions, where it points to, etc.
Choose from our predefined list of topics, or submit an original article that is not listed. Keep in mind that not all articles offer a payment amount, but you will always receive free promotion via the attribution link and/or a quick video plug. We call this a “Shameless Plug”. There’s actually nothing shameless about it. In fact, we highlight Shameless Plugs on our weekly podcast called “World Of Arizona Weekly”.
Be sure to check the information at the top of each posting. It shows:
Keep in mind, if you have not yet submitted an article you have been working on, and it has been removed from the topics list, then use the “Submit Your Original Article” form. Be sure to check the box “I am submitting an article that was previously on the board, but has since been removed.”
Your submission will be reviewed and receive the same consideration as if the topic was still on the board.
Rest assured, we are not likely to reject late-arriving articles due to topics being removed from the board.
A Shameless Plug (or promotional plug) is a short description and/or links to whatever you choose to promote. It can also be a quick (up to 30 sec) video plug you can submit with your article that highlights whatever you choose to promote. When your submission is accepted by our staff, the plug will be attached to the end of the article.
Some recommended examples would be a plug for your business, website, social media, upcoming event, or just a favorite local business you want to shine a light on.
There’s actually nothing shameless about it. In fact, we highlight Shameless Plugs on our weekly podcast/video series called “World Of Arizona Weekly”. It can also prove to be a valuable marketing resource for any type of business, social media influencers, and website.
We strongly encourage our contributors to attach a “Shameless Plug” with the article submission. If we receive excessive submissions on the same topic, this helps to narrow the field.
A Shameless Plug video can easily be shot on your phone, webcam, or any video recording device. We don’t host videos on our servers so you need to upload your video to a hosting platform (ie. YouTube, Vimeo) and submit a shared link with your article. There is a field designated for this link on the article submission form.
We want you to have complete control over your Shameless Plug video. If for any reason you decide you want to remove the video from the article once it has been posted on our site, you can simply remove it, or disable sharing on the platform your video is hosted. This will immediately remove the video from our site.
You will find the current availability status on the topic details page. There will be a number posted next to both “Paid Available”, and “Promotions Available”. We are timely about removing topics from the board when a quota has been met.
If you have not yet submitted an article you have been working on, and it has been removed from the topics list, then use the “Submit Your Original Article” form. Be sure to check the box “I am submitting an article that was previously on the board, but has since been removed.”
Your submission will be reviewed by our staff and will receive the same consideration as if the topic was still on the board. Rest assured, we are not likely to reject late-arriving articles due to topics being removed from the board.
Each article will have a minimum word count and photo count submission posted on the topic details page. Most topics will require between 650 – 1300 words to be considered for approval. Each article will require one featured image and up to four additional images.
Unfortunately, no. We require all articles to be original in both content and availability. Each submission is passed through a plagiarism checker and must receive a high originality score to be considered.
Once you submit your article for consideration, you are in agreement that upon approval, World Of Arizona has all publishing rights moving forward to the content you submitted. This means you are not allowed to post this content elsewhere without consent from World Of Arizona.
Here are some basic guidelines to get your article accepted by our staff.
During the article submission process, you are required to disclose the type of camera used to take the photos. We always check the EXIF data for each image uploaded. This information needs to match the information submitted with your article, including the type of camera used.
If the EXIF information doesn’t match, then you need to provide proof that you have permission to use the photograph. If the EXIF data has been removed, the article will not be initially approved, and a member of our support team may reach out to help resolve the issue.
Our support team is always looking for signs of plagiarism and/or copyright issues.
We recommend being an Arizona resident because of the insight and on-sight necessities it takes to write an informative article. Submissions are unlikely to be approved if they are obvious remote authors.
Great job, the hardest part is over! Now go ahead and submit your article. To do this, simply click on your topic to open the details page and fill out the 4-step form. Agree to our terms, then submit your article for review. If your topic is not listed on the board, then use the Submit Original Article form.
If writing isn’t your cup of tea, then stay tuned and check back later for additional opportunities. We plan to add stand-alone photography jobs to the board at a later time.
We don’t recommend submitting an article based on your own business. This is one of the reasons for a “Shameless Plug”. For example, you could write an article about another business or topic, and attach a Shameless Plug about yours.
Feel free to write about or Shamelessly Plug a friend or family member’s business, or encourage them to do the same for your business.
We strongly discourage the use of stock photography in the Contribution Network for several reasons, the most obvious being authenticity. Your article is likely to be rejected if it is found to include obvious stock photography. We are looking for real people with real experiences.
