To preserve and encourage local arts in Gilbert, the Higley Center for the Performing Arts relies heavily on sponsorships and volunteers. Along with the small dedicated staff, sponsors and volunteers help HCPA keep the performance facility and productions running smoothly throughout each season. Support is also essential to the center’s mission to “Grow the Arts in Gilbert.” For those looking to volunteer, sponsor, or are interested in other available support opportunities, contact the Higley Center Manager Robert Zucker, robert.zucker@husd.org.
During the spring 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Gilbert’s Higley Center for the Performing Arts postponed live ticketed shows scheduled to the fall season, including acts such as The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and the Bellamy Brothers. To provide entertainment virtually during the facility shutdown, the HCPA developed its own local TV channel HCTV to broadcast shows featuring performers, local guests, and hosts. The online streaming broadcasts showcased entertaining piano playing, humor, storytelling, world-renowned vocalist groups, as well as Elvis and Moody Blues tributes, to name a few. The HCTV channel also hosted special event links to Higley Unified School District’s Virtual Graduations for Higley High School and Williams Field High School, both located in Gilbert, AZ.
- Little theater is cute and just right for 150 ish people. Performers feel closer with good quality lights. Sound quality can be improved a bit.
- This venue is really nice for its vicinity as well as being comfortable with great views from all seats. The sound and lights were not as solid the last time we were there but in the past have been great. We attend this facility for school concerts as well as national artists. Tickets to events
- Excellent venue for live music! Saw Leonid and friends and the sound was fantastic. Great acoustics. Comfy chairs and wide aisles so you don't bug someone too much if you need to get to or from your seat.
- Felt more like you were going in a back door rather than a main entrance. Accessibility here is terrible. No crosswalk from handicapped parking to sidewalk, with just a tiny ramp opening where cars are usually stopped and blocking it to drop people off anyway. No handrail to go down aisle stairs to get to
- Staff was great. Parking good. Show was good (Gypsy Soul). Physical plant acoustics in the small theater are poor.
