Thanks for tuning in to the World of Arizona podcast network. I’m Amber. …and this is…7 things this week, June 3rd, 2019. My goodness, can you believe it’s June already? It’s heating up and we have a nice mix of somewhat eclectic things for you this week. Let’s jump in!
It’s Pay-What-You-Wish-Wednesday at the Phoenix Art Museum this Wednesday, June 5th. That’s right, if you want to pay zero, your wish is granted. If you want to pay a hundred bucks, you can do that too! This community access program was developed nearly 20 years ago in an effort to reduce economic barriers and increase access to the arts. So go check out some fantastic art for whatever you wish to pay!
Critters and a Movie? Ahh, yeah, I guess you heard me right, I said critters and a movie. This Friday morning, San Tan Mountain Regional Park invites you to meet some of their Animal Ambassadors and cool off in their Nature Center with the classic Disney movie; The Living Desert, a documentary about our Sonoran Desert. I haven’t seen the film, but the Ranger gives it two thumbs up. It has incredible footage of desert animal behavior rarely witnessed in person. Sounds engaging for people of all ages. Okay….so throw in some buttered popcorn and I’m there.
The sun is beating down on you, your parched to say the least. What you wouldn’t give for a tall, cold glass of delicious fresh squeezed lemonade. Well you’re in luck my friend. Quench your thirst and satisfy your need to “give to a great charity”… with Lemonade Days held at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in Gilbert this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Lemonade stands will be set up outside the restaurants and portions of the sales will be donated to the amazing charity that fights to end childhood cancer; Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Cheers!
Juke Box Hero! You guessed it, Foreigner is playing in Scottsdale this Friday, June 7th at Talking Stick Resort. This multi platinum iconic British-American rock band has been energizing audiences with their electrifying performances since the 70s. Geez, that’s like 40 years! If you’re Hot Blooded and you Want to Know What Love Is, it’s Urgent you experience the Night Life at Talking Stick Resort. Who knows, Maybe it will Feel Like The First Time.
Saturday, June 8th, New York Times bestselling author of Eat, Pray, Love; Elizabeth Gilbert will be discussing her latest novel of, umm, get this…glamour, sex and adventure, about a young woman discovering that you don’t have to be a good girl to be a good person. Well, doesn’t that sounds intriguing. The book is entitled City of Girls. I’m going out on a limb here and recommend you bring your sweetie to this one. I see points in your future. There’s even a ticket package for around 40 bucks for two people, which includes a signed copy of her new book.
Do you want to discover the Mysteries of the Mind? Hmm, that sounds fun and scary. If yes, find your answers this Saturday night, June 8th at Dave & Busters in Tempe, Arizona. Mentalist; Craig Anthony will be combining his knowledge of body language, persuasion and human psychology to read your mind and make impossible predictions.
at the Camelback Collectibles Coin Show. Calling all collector nerds, geeks, nuts and the like. This last event is for you. Don’t get me wrong, I mean for these titles to be a good thing. I’ve been a coin nerd wanna be for many years now and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I mean come on, we’re talking about gold bullion and treasure, don’t ya know! At any rate, if the collecting of coins, gold and silver bullion, stamps, comic books, sports cards, military memorabilia or jewelry is your jam, you should head over to the Chandler American Legion post #35 on Sunday, June 9th. Happy treasure hunting and maybe I’ll see you there wearing my nerd badge proudly.
And that’s a wrap! Thanks for listening to 7 Things This Week, a World Of Arizona Podcast series. See you next week, and remember, more information on all these events can be found on worldofarizona.com. Bah-bye!
