Anyhows…Number 2 takes us to the Mesa Arts Center, Wednesday, May 15th from 7 to 9 pm. This is where New York Times best selling author Michael Pollan will be discussing his #1 bestselling book. Okay, are you ready for this? The book is called… “How to Change Your Mind; What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression and Transcendence.” Whoa, that sounds a bit heavy, yet extremely fascinating. Michael Pollan is the author of seven previous books including “Cooked”, which is also a Netflix documentary. Check it out.
Third thing on our list is “All About Scorpions and Scorpion Search Moonlight Walk”, Friday May 17th, from 7-9pm at the San Tan Mountain Regional Park in San Tan Valley, Arizona. You will learn about the Big 3 stingers of San Tan and which stories are fact and which are fiction. Closed toed shoes are required…for obvious reasons, don’t be a hero, you know who you are.
Moving on to number 4. Who’s hungry for street food? Ok, it’s not really food found on the street. It’s actually food, from trucks, that are simply…parked on the street! Yes, it’s a thing. If it’s your thing, then head over to Queen Creek this Friday, May17th. There’s gonna be a whole bunch of trucks with food, accompanied by live music and a boutique market full of local artists and crafters. How much fun is that? Admission is free, the food…well that cost money.
Number 5 brings us to Gilbert, Arizona for a night of drinks and painting at Pinot’s Palette Saturday, May 18th from 7 to 10 pm. This event features the painting entitled; Firefly Lake. Rest assured, No art experience needed! There is a resident artist who provides step-by-step guidance, ensuring your masterpiece turns out beautifully….at least in your eyes. Seriously, I’ve had friends rave about the experience, cheers.
Laughing our way to number 6, the hilarious comedian Sebastian Maniscalco will be speaking his mind, telling it like it is and making us roll with laughter at Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Saturday, May 18th. Sebastian’s physical and up front comedic style is wildly popular and sure to tickle your funny bone.
Rounding out our list of 7 things to do this week is The Allman Betts Band with special guest JD Simo performing at Chandler Center for the Arts, Sunday May 19th starting at 7 pm. Devon Allman and Duane Betts are the sons of Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts. This southern rock band’s worldwide tour features music from their own new album, solo projects and songs in honor of The allman brothers 50th anniversary. Wow, has it been 50 years?
