Thanks for tuning in to 7 Things To Do This Week, March 2nd, 2020.

The first week of March brings us a whole lotta candy...of the eye, ear, mouth and good feels variety that is. Not to mention, kilts, bagpipes, beer and kickin’ cancer’s ass. Oh yeah, let’s do this.

  1. The Phoenix Orpheum invites you to be dazzled this Wednesday through Sunday with Shen Yun. Shen Yun is a brilliant artistic revival and celebration of China’s rich cultural heritage through exciting dance and vibrant performance art. An important note, Shen Yun Is Not From China. Shen Yun is based in New York, not China, and is in no way affected by the coronavirus situation. All performances will go on as scheduled. See you there!

  2. The First Lady of Song, Queen of Jazz, Lady Ella. The time has come to experience legendary jazz vocals up close and personal, Thursday at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts in Gilbert with Grammy Nominated Freda Payne’s Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald. How divine.

  3. Friday through Sunday, Margaret T Hance Park East in Phoenix is hosting the M3F Music Festival Phoenix. M3F™️ is a 100% nonprofit music festival that was established in 2004 and has become a musical destination for festival goers. In a commitment to giving back, M3F has adopted a 3 C’s belief – community, culture, and charity. Their purpose is to connect the community through a festival gathering including music, arts and food. Well, rock on to that.

  4. Is James Taylor your jam? Yes, that was a real question. And, yes, I am refraining from breaking out into song. Anyhow, You’ve Got a Friend in the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center this Friday as Nashville’s Bill Griese, aka “Sweet Baby James,” Shower’s The People with a solo-acoustic evening of James’ greatest hits and gems. The Walking Man and The Frozen Man down the Country Road by Mexico and California, along the River will be there even in Fire And Rain. And don’t forget Copperline Carey, ‘cause it’s Her Town Too. Come on people, Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight, Line ‘em Up…How Sweet It will be.

  5. It’s time to put on your kilts and dust off the bagpipes. Join the Caledonian Society of Arizona in celebrating the Phoenix Scottish Games 56th year this Saturday and Sunday at Steele Indian School Park. Whether you can trace your family back to Scotland or you are just Scottish for the weekend, all are welcome at the Phoenix Scottish Games. Slàinte mhath! (pronounced slan-ja vah)

  6. What better way to spend a Sunday than to say F*ck off to cancer and drink local craft beer. Well, throw in fundraising for a badass human-being and the answer is…nothing is better! The Arizona Craft Brewers Foundation invites you to drink beer, raise the roof, spirits and money for a local cancer ass kicker. See you at Michal Mason Kicks Cancer’s Ass Fundraiser, this Sunday from noon to 6 at QuartHaus in downtown Chandler. Worth repeating…F*ck Cancer, drink beer…there ain’t nothin’ better than that.

  7. Scottsdale Civic Center Park is finishing up our week in superb, outdoor, relaxing style with their free musical entertainment event…Sunday A’Fair, featuring two local bands…Rising Sun Daughter and The Senators. Guests are invited to bring a blanket to sit on the lawn or low-sitting lawn chairs to enjoy great food, friends, and free live performances.

And that’s a wrap! Thanks for listening to 7 Things To Do in the Phoenix Valley This Week, a World Of Arizona Podcast series. See you next week, and remember, more information on all these events can be found at worldofarizona.com. Peace out peeps.
