Kicking off our art themed week right on Tuesday in Downtown Gilbert at none other than…well…The Art House with a Charity Paint Night class! 50% of ticket sales will go directly to Love Society, a local non-profit that helps Mothers and children in tough situations. Nice.
Thursday evening is time to take a nice stroll through Old Town Scottsdale for their weekly ArtWalk. This and every Thursday, Old Town galleries open their doors to collector and casual patrons alike to enjoy featured artists, a cultural environment and refreshments. So, that’s good.
Picture it…October 1st, 1993…“Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm” “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm” Yep, best known for that spectacular baritone voice…CrashTest Dummies will be performing on Thursday at Marquee Theatre in Tempe. The iconic Canadian folk rock group is celebrating the 25th anniversary release of their second and most popular album “God Shuffled His Feet” by performing the album in its entirety. Talk about an epic throwback Thursday folks!
On Friday, Chandler Center for the Arts Free Summer Concert Series presents Jacome Flamenco’s SOL y LUNA. This stunning new show takes audiences on a sultry, exotic journey as exquisite flamenco dancers preside over the sounds of the guitar, singing and percussion. Oh people, I suspect this will be artistic expression at it’s muy finest…and its free to boot! Garcias and De nada.
Mamma Mia, here we go again! Friday through Monday, Queen Creek Performing Arts Center will be enchanting us with ABBA’s timeless songs and have us falling in love with the characters of the ultimate feel-good show…Mamma Mia…My my, how can I resist you?
Saturday night at Mesa Arts Center we’re gettin’ our Latin groove on again this week with…Hot Spanish Nights: Guitars. Oh my. The evening features the third generation of the Royal Family of Guitars —Celino and Lito Romero, who take center stage with guitarist Eric Symons for an evening of Spanish sounds. Ahh, pretty sure you could call this a date night lovers. Muy caliente.
Rounding out our list this week on Saturday at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Downtown Phoenix. In my humble opinion, we might have saved the best for last with this one. Athletes and Artists become one to create the ultimate artform we call basketball. Are you ready for this? The Harlem Globetrotters will be flying, somersaulting, tumbling, trampolining, dunking, dazzling and thrilling the crowd, no doubt. This electrifying, world famous team, holder of five Guinness World Records definitely “aims” to please with their Fan Powered World Tour.
