Thanks for tuning in to the World of Arizona podcast network. I’m Amber. …and this is…7 Things To Do This Week, August 5th, 2019. This week’s episode is sponsored by ArizonaShack.com, Arizona’s best home search website. Buy, sell and search real estate at ArizonaShack.com. My goodness people do we have some things for you this week! We’ll be swayin’, singin’, cheerin’, movin’, crawlin’, laugin’ AND gettin’ crunk. Let’s go…
There’s a “Stranger in My House” on Tuesday in Chandler at Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino. If you haven’t guessed it, one of the 70’s and 80’s most influential country music performers AND most successful country crossover singers of his time, the legendary Ronnie Milsap will be performing live in concert. After this concert folks, you’re sure to say…”I Wouldn’t Have Missed It for the World”.
Queen Creek, Arizona invites us to have a happy hump day on Wednesday at Norton’s Country Corner Bar with, wait for it…Karaoke funness. Now, if you’re one of those people that feels the need to sing everywhere and all the time, this event might be for you. I personally don’t know anyone like this, but I’m sure you’re out there…okay fine, fine, i am, I am that person that has to sing all the time, are you happy now? I won’t deny it…and you don’t have to either! Let your exquisite vocals soar to the heavens you beautiful songbird! No worries if you’re shy, the fabulous bar staff will be serving up $2 Pints and $3 Shot Specials for your liquid confidence needs. I’m also personally too chicken to sing karaoke, but you go get em tiger…it’s your time to shine brave soul!
Traveling over to the west side on Thursday in Glendale. Are you ready for some football? Yeah, so am I. Preseason week one starts with the Arizona Cardinals facing off with the Los Angeles Chargers at State Farm Stadium. Hut, hut.
On Friday the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts is bringing the musical stylings of Thaikkudam (tie-q-tum) Bridge. Okay folks, this group looks pretty cool. If you’re feelin’ like a little soothing ear candy after your wild karaoke night, this event seems to fit the bill. Thaikkudam Bridge is a rock band with sound-scape built upon elements of folk and classical sounds of India interspersed, at times, with layers of progressive, pop, and ambient and electronic textures. Whoa, yes, please.
On Friday at Ak Chin Pavilion in Phoenix. Okay, time out, you may have caught on that there’s always at least one event each week I get a little too excited about…well get ready folks, this is it. There’s way too many things to say about this amazing artist so I’ll just say it…Okay, okay, okay…No More Drama, I promise. I tell ya, It’s gonna be a Family Affair! Get ready for The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul herself…Mary J Blige. That’s right people, let’s get it crunk…Mary J. is in the spot Friday night and she will make it feel alright.
Well, since we were percolatin’ all night with Mary J. on Friday, it’s good to know that Downtown Tempe has our backs on Saturday morning with a Brunch Crawl. Yep, you heard me right, a brunch crawl. Simply brilliant! A $5 ticket gets you access to…1. 14 brunch stops (hmm, which apparently you can crawl too?) Anyway, the 14 local participating businesses are offering exclusive small bites, plus drink specials. 2. sunglasses (umm, I’m a little confused by this too…so I guess you get sunglasses as well for your 5 bucks?) Dang. 3. Last, but definitely not least…get this…in my opinion, the best deal…FREE Parking! Jackpot!
On Sunday, heading back over to Tempe to finish up our week right with a good laugh. Tempe Improv kicks off their 6th edition of Brownz And Tannerz Comedy Show. This show has flown under the radar and has very quietly become a Tempe Improv favorite. This promises to be a show that you don’t want to miss! I’m there, how ‘bout you?
And that’s a wrap! Thanks for listening to 7 Things To Do This Week, a World Of Arizona Podcast series. See you next week, and remember, more information on all these events can be found on worldofarizona.com.
