  1. The Tempe Improv is starting off our week on Wednesday with their Open Mic Turkey Contest. Don’t be a turkey, win a turkey! This Special Edition of the New Faces Of Comedy AZ Show, will end with a Grand Prize of a DELICIOUS TURKEY and $100! Which poses the obvious question, why did the turkey take the stage? To prove it wasn’t a chicken.

  2. Speaking of turkeys, the SERTOMA club in Mesa wants you to run around the park before you eat one. That’s right, the annual Mesa Turkey Trot takes place this Thursday at Red Mountain Park. This professionally timed 10k race is family-themed and has something for everyone, like the 1 and 2 mile races that take place before the main event. That’s probably where you’ll find me…sitting on a bench…eating turkey.

  3. David Archuleta takes the stage on Friday night at the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center. David became a star when he was just 16. More than 30 million viewers fell in love with David Archuleta’s angelic voice when he was voted runner-up of a hit TV singing competition. His first single debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart the week of its release. His seventh album features all original songs that he co-wrote. So that’s really good.

  4. Grab the family and head to Glendale on Friday, for the opening of the Glendale Glitters Holiday Light Display. Glendale Glitters is Arizona’s largest free holiday light display and a beloved family tradition, as charming downtown Glendale is illuminated by more than 1.6 million twinkling lights across 16 blocks. Russ, we checked every bulb didn’t we?

  5. Share a night of laughs with one of America’s favorite comedians, as Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias takes the stage at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale. Gabriel Iglesias is one of America’s most successful stand-up comedians performing to sold-out shows around the world. His latest one-hour, Netflix comedy special, “I’m Sorry for What I Said When I Was Hungry” was released in 2016. He is also one of the most-watched comedians on YouTube with over 300,000,000 views! That is also really good.

  6. Get up Saturday morning and head over to Chandler because the Downtown Chandler Farmers Market returns for its second season this fall. Stop by Dr. A.J. Chandler Park West from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to shop for local produce, freshly made foods and artisan goods. Yoga in the Park also is back. This free, 45-minute class, taught by FLO Yoga & Cycle, starts at 10 a.m. and is for all ages and levels. Just bring a mat, sunscreen and water. The class will be located at the large grassy area across from the San Marcos Hotel.

  7. Who wants to make a beer run? Come on now, it’s ice cold beer! That’s right, a beer run at Uncle Bear’s Brewery in Gilbert is hosting an Arizona Brewery Running Series event. The 5k-ish, fun-run courses all start and end at local Arizona breweries. They welcome all runners, walkers, joggers, and spectators that are interested in enjoying the great outdoors and the great craft beer that Arizona has to offer. All of our participants complete a 5k course near the brewery. Afterward, everyone hangs out, drinks beer, and enjoys local live music! I have to believe, that this will also be good.

And that’s a wrap! Thanks for listening to 7 Things To Do This Week, a World Of Arizona Podcast series. See you next week, and remember, more information on all these events can be found at worldofarizona.com. Happy Thanksgiving!
