Thanks for tuning in to the World of Arizona podcast network. I’m Amber. …and this is…7 Things To Do This Week, September 16th, 2019. This week’s episode is sponsored by ArizonaShack.com. Buy, sell and search real estate at ArizonaShack.com. Oh the outdoors are calling this week folks! Not to mention the coolest of rock stars, an iconic funny guy, ice cream AND donuts. Goodness, let’s answer those calls, shall we?
Well, we don’t have to wait long for our first event this week. On Monday at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Downtown Phoenix, British folk rock group; Mumford & Sons will be wielding their instruments and vocals in perfect harmony and have us singing along with their distinctive sound.
Wednesday at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix. The epitome of retro cool rock icon…multi Grammy Award winner for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for 4 years in a row, singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist; Lenny Kravitz will be blowing our doors off. Oh Lenny, I’m Gonna Go Your Way, Again…That’s right, I’m an American Woman that Can’t Get You Off My Mind and I’m definitely ready to Fly Away with you.
Continuing our theme of ultra cool iconic rock stars, on throwback Thursday at Mesa Arts Center…we’re kickin’ it Old School, classic rock style with the one and only…KANSAS. Yes, the band. Carry On My Wayward Son even though, we are all just Dust In the Wind. Dammit Dean…I miss you.
Speaking of kickin’ it old school, SNL funny man alum from the late ‘80s; John Lovitz will have us rolling at Tempe Improv Comedy Theatre with shows from Thursday through Saturday. Could it be?! Oh man, there’s something about this guy that’s made me giggle since I was a kid. Yeah, that’s the ticket. No, really it is.
The City of Glendale is kicking off their Movie by Moonlight series this Friday at Glendale Heroes Regional Park with Wonder Park. So that looks fun. The family-oriented film is scheduled to screen at dusk, with activities planned beforehand at 5:00 pm.
On Saturday, The Town of Queen Creek is once again bringing the fun for the whole family. The community is invited to come out and celebrate Queen Creek’s 30th anniversary at Founders’ Park for Founder’s Day Festival. Free admission alert people! Plus soo many activities and experiences including a 4-H Zone,(goats!) an FFA Zone,(we got cows!) lawn games, live music and entertainment, vendors, a corn-hole tournament, the Battle of the Badge relay style competitions and last but definitely not least (and the reason you will see me there) pig races! Gitty up!
And finishing up our week on Sunday funday in Downtown Phoenix. The Pressroom invites you to bring your sweet-tooth for Arizona’s Donut & Ice Cream Festival. What? 15 local donut and ice cream businesses are serving up donuts and ice cream from around the world! Rolled ice cream, bubble waffle with ice cream, beignets, and churros to name a few. Oh, and wash it all down with a cold beer or paired cocktail! The event will also include a curated marketplace with local artists. Now here’s a local event to support if I ever did see one!
