Time to uphold our vow to never forget. On Wednesday, September 11th, join Gilbert’s Fire & Rescue and Police Departments for a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial Plaza in Gilbert. The Ceremonial Team will bring the colors to half-staff in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. The Desert Ridge High School band will perform, as well as remarks from Police and Fire Chiefs. The Tribute in Light will close out the ceremony.
Thursday at Tempe Center For the Arts. Have you ever been intrigued by the sheer athleticism, grace and magic of the ballet, but not so much about paying the ticket price? Yeah, me too! Well, we are all in luck this week my artistic craving comrades. Ballet Arizona and The Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation is kicking of the season with Ballet Under the Stars. Bloom and grow wild at the Mesa Arts Center’s annual season kickoff event…FLOURISH: The Art of Life on Earth. The free, family-friendly, fun festival inspired by Flora & Fauna, (Ha, F words are fantastic) is one of five exhibitions opening in the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum this fall. Enjoy entertainment, artmaking, demonstrations, delicious food, drink and more. The event invites us all to look closer and celebrate the incredible, fascinating world in which we live.

Saturday, Downtown Chandler Stage, Tacos! Yes, the event you’ve all been waiting for is here. The 8th Annual Rockin’ Taco Street Fest! A festival combining food, music and cultural celebration…simply genius. Saturday and Sunday, The Town of Queen Creek invites us to finish up our week by getting a little down and dirty. No, get your mind out of the gutter. We’re talking family friendly, “be a kid” playtime with some good ‘ole messy fun. It’s the 4th Annual Messy Fest at Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Center. Think massive mud pits, large-scale finger-painting, mashed-potato tug-of-war and food fights. Go play messy people… because life is too short to play clean.
